I Love You More Now Than I Ever Did

I love you now more than I ever did,
Though you think I hate YOU, I just hate what you did.
It's times like these when we both want to cry
I just think of you and get all warm inside
Cause I love you more now than I ever did.

The mommy in me says I have to be tough
The friend in me says you've had enough.
So I won't be harsh and I won't be cruel
I understand what you're going through.

I wish I could get in that head of yours
For there's goodness in there, of that I'm sure.
You don't want to cause pain and you don't want to hurt
You're trying so hard and it all turns to dirt.

I love you now more than I ever did
Though you think I hate YOU, I just hate what you did.
It's times like these when we both want to cry
I just think of you and get all warm inside.
Cause I love you more now than I ever did.

I remember when you were just newly born
You came into the world all pinkish and warm.
I hugged you then and loved you so
Much more than you will ever know.

As the years go by, you grow and you change
Sometimes I know you, sometimes you're strange.
But deep inside, where it really counts
You'll always be my baby, of that I've no doubts.

You'll learn life's lessons, we'll muddle through
But no matter what happens I'll always love you.
Whatever you do and wherever you go
I'll always love you more than you'll ever know.

I love you now more than I ever did
Though you think I hate YOU, I just hate what you did.
It's times like these when we both want to cry
I just think of you and get all warm inside.
Cause I love you more now than I ever did.

To Jennifer with as much love as a mom can give.
January 11, 1999

Isn't she a beauty?

There are some things in life that are more precious than gold. Jennifer is one of those special gifts from God...one that makes you realize the real value of life, the true meaning of love, and shows you that the best is yet to come.

She's learned her lessons well and grown up to be a very special young lady of whom I am extremely proud. I am honored to call her my daughter. But she's much more than that to me. She's the person I always wished I could be!

I love her more every day than I ever did!

There were times I thought we'd

NEVER see this day!

But she made it! And we both survived. Somehow.

I wrote this poem to Jennifer on one of THOSE days.

Since that day Jennifer has never ceased to amaze me by being the woman she has become. I'm not sure where her life will lead her, what path she will take as she goes on the many adventures we adults call life, but wherever her footsteps take her, I'm sure that I will always be proud of her and that I will always love her more then than I ever did.

Back to the beginning

Write me!

Jennifer's sister Courtney is next...
